NSCRA Gives Back to its Racers!

In order to progressively improve the image of the sport compact drag racing industry, the NSCRA has continued to find new ways of innovating the sport as we prepare to air the NSCRA events on national television. By helping give back to the racers, the NSCRA has established a new program that will not only help the racers improve their image, but their professionalism on and off the track. All NSCRA's Round 1 winners are now wanted!

NSCRA: Wanted Bounty!

To make things fun and exciting, the NSCRA has placed a bounty on all of the winners from Round One's event on May 3rd, 2009. Racers have a chance to win an extra cash prize if they are skillful enough to take out the winner from the previous event. The payout is paid regardless of whether or not the winner wins their respective class. If you race the driver with the bounty placed on them and you take them out in a heads-up round, the bounty is yours! If no one succeeds in taking out the winner and a class winner repeats on July 5th, 2009 - the bounty is all theirs.

03 Procharged Cobra

Found this sweet Cobra that has just been finished.  The car features a matte black finish, and it's what's under the hood that really shines!  The engine as it sits should make 850rwhp with the small pulley and over 1,000rwhp on the big one. The engine is a fully built by Lawless, who does the top fuel engines for Hot Rod Fuller as well as many NASCAR builds. It's all there to handle 2000hp at the tires if it wanted it.  More pics and full specs after the break.

HART Racing Accord

HART has just unleashed their newest drag car, an Accord.  Though it's not much of an Accord being an all out pro car, the chassis is definitely immaculate and it is nice to see a nice pro-chassis in the form of a Honda back out on the track.  Now that most of the famed racers have departed or taken a break (hopefully the latter), it's nice to see new cars breathe life into the never-ending growth of the sport.  The car has already laid down low 7-second passes, and with the entire crew working for Honda of North America we're excited to see the potential of the vehicle.  Good luck to the HART team and more photos after the jump.

After two successful events at PBIR, the NSCRA has continued to strengthen their relationship to give a home to its series as well as a place for its racers.  They just posted up an article where they interviewed Mike Clark, track manager at PBIR, in regards to the NSCRA, PBIR and all the growth that is going on at the track.  It's a great read if you're a drag racing fanatic - definitely sheds some light as to what has been going on at PBIR ever since it changed ownership and is no longer Moroso Motorsports Park.

2JZ Show Winnin' Drag Racin' S2000

We've been involved in the industry for over 15 years now and through that time we've had the opportunity to watch Hondas completely evolve from Honda CRXs battling for 10s to Supra taillight conversions to JDM-themed vehicles to shaved bays and K-series swaps.  In all of our years and events we've attended, it's sad to say that someone like myself has become jaded and it takes an awful lot to impress me.  But this S2000 really does the job.  Its as clean as can be, widebody, beautiful pearl white paint and even its drag wheel and tire setup is aggressive to the point that its functional.  The engine bay sports a Toyota Supra 2JZ in there, getting rid of the traditional Honda power and the bay is shaved to an immaculate condition.  This is straight up a true HIN show car winner out there on the track launching as hard as imaginable is tearing up the track.  We're hoping to catch up with Charles Walker and get a more formal and thorough shoot of the car, but check out a few more shots of it after the jump.  It's currently campaigning in the NSCRA season.

Over the weekended we saw Chris Green's new S4 from USP Motorsport at the NSCRA Season Opener.  This is the first time out for the car, and it won it's class!  Go Chris!  Can't wait to see them out at the next event (July 5).  Here's a video of the car running the quarter mile.  Video after the break.

NSCRA Season Opener - May 3rd, 2009

May 3rd, 2009 – West Palm Beach, Florida – The National Sport Compact Racing Association (NSCRA) opened up their first race towards the championship points chase at Palm Beach International Raceway on May 3rd, 2009.  Over 100 race cars were in attendance competing in eight classes of pure sport compact drag racing action.  The vendor row was packed with sponsors’ booths including Race Engineering, Torque Solution, SPEC Clutch, Mike Turbo Inc., South Florida Turbo, Phantom Grip, Racing Engine Valves, Euro Export Inc., and WWR Turbo & Injection.  Alongside vendor row was over 100 show cars competing in over 20 different classes with some of the nicest cars South Florida has to offer.  The full release and results after the jump.

TunerZine Project Si - Base Line 1/4 Mile Run

This last weekend marked the start of the 2009 Sport Compact Bracket series at Firebird Raceway in Boise, ID.  We took the project SI out there to see how well it would run with no performance modifications on it yet.  With a steady head wind all day our best time was a 15.10 at 92mph.  With Firebird Raceway being at 3500ft, we will have some work ahead of us with the elevation, but with our partners jumping on board we should start to see some awesome gains and improvements with the SI.  Sadly for us, we took a red light in the opening round of eliminations, but there are more events on the horizon for the SI to climb to the top.  Video available after the jump.
